Laina "FRANK"

Lai, LaiMoné, Laina...it's all ME, but back in college, some friends of mine somehow crowned me with the name "Laina Frank". With my name being "Laina", I never really knew where they got the "Frank". They told me I reminded them of a character from a movie (insert unknown movie name here) but, it had a ring to it and eventually it grew on me.  Derivations of Laina Frank came about: Frankie, Frankie Doll, and plain ol' Frank.  I answered to them all because I never found any reason not to. I thought it was "phunki"... After years of responding to this name, I began to make sense of the name for myself and peace of mind. 

Laina, after dropping the first letter 'A' is what most people call me after subconsciously leaving off the 'A'.

Frank is an adjective that describes Laina. She is candid, straightforward, explicit, truthful, sincere, outspoken, blunt, not afraid to call a spade a spade.  She is honest, natural, genuine, and totally herself.

For so long, I never realized how well the name a few of my best college friends gave me was such a 'right fit'.

Moving into the new year, there is new direction and new beginnings for the better. I have decided to rename this blog, "Laina Frank".  Laina Frank speaks to who I am as a writer, artist, stylist, mother, lover, friend, woman, period. I am who I am and I am unapologetic for it.

I started this blog back in 2009. It was a space for me to escape and free my mind and journal about my love for art, beauty, and fashion. Since then, I've deleted posts, deactivated, reactivated, revamped, etc., etc.. Today, I am giving New Life to my blog. My hopes are to inspire others through my words and my wardrobe. 

"Frankly", this blog is just getting started.
