Closet Clean

"Don't you carry nothing that might be a load..."

The day after Christmas, I began cleaning out my closet. As cliché as it sounds, out with the old, in with the new.  Over the course of the year, I have accumulated so many articles of clothing just because. I have loads of clothes in my closet that I don't even wear! The crazy thing is, I can never find anything to wear. I realized that I can't see what I have because my closet has been unorganized.  At one point my pieces were categorized by item and color (what happened?). Life happens. In the midst of juggling a busy schedule, I admit that I neglected my closet.

My wardrobe is a part of who I am. If it is not organized then it too, reflects me. As I continue to grow in who I am, I accept that my wardrobe/closet must contribute to that growth.  Because there was SO much stuff, I literally had to purge of some pieces that I'd normally make an excuse just to keep.  After eliminating pieces, I immediately began to feel refreshed and renewed. It's a new season. It's my new season. I refuse to walk into a new year with too much STUFF clouding my vision and dirty laundry. It's time to clean up: mind, body and soul. It's time to de-clutter and make room for what's to come.

"Ease on down the road..."

Happy New Year! Have a Good Year on PURPOSE!

Brining order: This is my closet before the clean...

Maximize space: One style hanger throughout the closet coming soon!

Washing: I had so many pieces that I've thrifed for myself over the year that have been in bags, Instead of putting the wear and tear on my home washing machine, I decided to take it all to the laundromat.

Lesson: I forgot how expensive it can be to wash and dry at the laundromat.

l
Treasure Hunt: Digging through bags of clothes, I found this hand painted denim jacket I did while in undergrad (2007). "Ragdoll" was the name of my vintage shop before I changed it.

Shop my closet: I forgot I had this! I dare not throw her out, instead I'll be throwing her back into my mix. She may even end up in the online shop...maybe.

Decisions: To keep or not to keep? That is the question.

Donate: After filling three large bags, I decided to take them to one of my favorite thrift stores' donation center. I guess I wasn't the only one making some adjustments to my wardrobe for the new year (lol)!

Stay tuned for more pictures of my newly improved closet space.

P.S.- I'm still purging!!
